hey the nfl championship games are this weekend. i'm gonna come right out here and make a bold prediction the two teams going to the superbowl are micro jig maker of the gripper work safer work smarter storage at our house is at a premium especially in this tiny bathroom where we try to store things under the sink but it's almostimpossible to get them when they're in the back because there is just not enough room on this side of this sink so i built this full extension drawer which makes it a lot easier to get to things in here and will hopefully solve a little bit of our small space storage problemsbefore i start building anything i already bought the drawer slides so i can see how much space they are gonna take up and how i need to
arrange those inside the cabinet a lot ofcabinets will have a face ring like this one that extend out away from the side ofthe cabinet of course that means it can't be mounted right against the side of the cabinet so it needs to come out a little bit i'll have to build up some spacers in there and i'll have to keep this in mind when design and size up the drawer but having that face ring actually makes mounting the drawer slides a little easier because the front of the drawer slide usually meets up withthe edge of that face frame i still have quite a bit of plywood left over from when i built the bathroom vanity i can test the fit now with the backpiece and both of the drawer slides i'll set these on the outside of the face frame and drop this in there's little bit ofplay which is perfect i don't want it to tight
i'm gonna try something a little different with this draw. i'm gonna make the front of it a little bit wider so that extends past the sides and covers up the drawer slide if you don't have a stack of data gleaned or you live in europe you can use a router to make these shallow cut for the drawer bottomi'm gonna set the blades to cut half the thickness of my plywood after cutting out that ledgeon all four pieces i can slide my fence over to cut out the rest of it ican't do that in one pass with my dattos i always run tests on scrap board before icommit myself to the actual pieces here you can see that i got lucky i got agood fit on the first try and i need to cut out a notch on the endof the front piece and the back piece
and the notch on the front piece is wider so this is the front and the back piecein these two raised section should be the same length all of those cuts will make assembling this and squaring it up a lot easier i can slide this into the cabinet and using the actual drawer slides i can mark where they need to be mounted i'll make those spacers for the inside of the cabinet out of these scrap two-by-fours the nice thing about this method is that i can install the drawer slides to these spacers out here in the shop these screws will hold this into place while i attach the cabinet member part of the drawer slide now i'll just but itright up against the front. and i can assemble this drawer as one piece out here in the shop and then take it up into the cabinet and if it's a little
too tight for one reason or another alli need to do is take it back out to my saw and shave a little bit off of thespacers i'll shim the drawer up a little bit sothat it doesn't drag along the floor of the cabinet now to attach the drawer part ofthis slide i'll just pull this out and but it up against the front i was in my forties before i experiencedcasper for the first time some might call me a late bloomer but ilike to think of myself as well seasoned and just like anybody when i when i gotmy first mattress i wasn't sure how to use it
sure i had heard that it was obsessivelyengineered at a shockingly fair price but what did that mean. i obsessed over its two technologies the latex foam in the memory foam and and how they werecombined for the first time ever my sleep zone had just the right amount ofsync and just the right amount of balance it was a paradigm shift of myworld view and then it all came rushing to me i learned that casper has arisk-free trial and return policy and that viewers of woodworking for meremortals can take $50 off their first order by going to casper dot com slashwoodworking and entering the promo code woodworking
could all this knowledge create worldpeace maybe, just maybe thank you for joining me this week on woodworking for mere mortals if you'd like to see my plans on this project check down below in thedescription you can easily modified this drawer to fit whatever size cabinet you have and if you have any questions about this project leave them down in the comments and i'll answer some of those on more minutes early next week have a great week everybody see you next week
