typically we store our knives in thisdrawer off to one side over here we all know the knives are there butit's still not the safest option to store knives so that's why i'm going to build amagnetic knife holder so what i'm going to be doing is i'mgoing to take this section and i'm going to be hollowing it out so these magnets can fit inside and i'vealready done some tests if i leave this at a quarter inch orjust a little under quarter inch it will be able to hold the knivesthrough the wood and then this is so
thin that it will also be able to stickto a metallic surface these magnets are just from old hard drivesand they're pretty difficult to get off but the best way that i've found to doit is to just take two pairs of vice grips clamp it on both sides and then bend it once the magnet starts lifting then youshould be able to just peel it off just like that but uh don't let this slam into othermagnets or other pieces of metal because it'll break so now i have thearea marked out that i nee to hollow
out on the backside and i'm just going to use my router to do that doesn't have to be exact just as long as you don't bust the edges over it'll be on the back and nobody will ever notice and i just take my sawand cut off the portion that i'm using just clean it up with some sandpaper now when the magnets are glued in that'sit right there and then the knives will stick to it now the epoxy is all dry
i'm just going to apply a coat of boiledlinseed oil so now the knife holder is done just take it and put it where we want it this keeps the knives out of the reachof the children and also keeps our hands safe from reaching into drawers when we're trying to grab spatulas as always thanks for watching cfbcreations feel free to share this video show yourfriends it's a really easy project to make, givethe video a like and subscribe if you haven't already
